When I was a student, I took up a waitress job at Delifrance. During my working days, I get to listen to french songs at the cafe everyday. And this song is my favourite of all.
In Celine’s words, this song is about loving someone so much you are prepared to give up everything on earth.
The story begins with the girl is getting married and her father played Canon in D as a gift and memory of her dead mother who played the same song as well when she was young and before she died. When her mother died, she didn’t talked to her father that much and abandoned playing the piano. The father understands her daughter so he tried to learn the song that his wife used to play. It was a gift for his daughter.
Canon in D is hard to play in the piano as it is not really arranged for piano but for violin.
On Friday evening, Leia had her first ukulele private lesson. We engaged a private lesson at our place. I sat in and get to learn ukulele too. I supposed I need to learn and practice with Leia.
After 45mins, my daughter reached a new milestone. She played her first ukulele song with C Chord.
Not too bad, I had some takeaway. Now I know how to play “Do Re Me Fa So” on ukulele. Didn’t sit through as I wanted to let Leia bond with her teacher.
Playing a musical instrument needs a whole lot of eye and finger coordination, memory and discipline. On my own, I am learning “I’m yours” by Jason Mraz 🙂
