I have been meeting Best Friend B for lunch, dinner and weekends. Think talking to B is my hobby, lol. Yesterday she introduced me to Goldleaf Taiwan Restaurant. In the restaurant, there was this painting.
Goldleaf Restaurant (previously known as New Taiwan Porridge Restaurant) was first established1971 at Oxlet Rise. The restaurant has moved from places to places and now it is located at Amoy Street. So B always tell me, “you have to try the cockles at amoy street!”
We ordered the fresh cockles with special sauce!
B was beaming with smiles as I indulged myself with the cockles! Best Friend has been thinking of bringing me to this place as she knows I will love the cockles and the sauce. In her opinion, the combination is better than Putien’s.
B: “I am happy to see you enjoying the food”
Coming from a best friend, what can be more comforting than happy food and knowing she is happy because of me 🙂 We also ordered Scrimp Omelette and San Bei Chicken to go along with the porridge. I love the scrimp omelette a lot.

Last week I met my long time friend, Huiting for her birthday dinner.
I picked her up from office at 7pm. We had Ju Shin Jung at Pasir Panjang. Had the dinner buffet and service was impeccable, we didn’t have to barbeque on our own at all. All we need to do was eat and talk 🙂
Instead of reminising our school days like usual, we talked about relationships and work topic. Huiting is a good friend to many and it is great blessing to have her as a friend to keep.
Back in secondary school days, we used to “fight” over tv idols. She was a fan of Fann Wong while I like Zoe Tay. By the time we outgrown idolisation, we actually complimented each other’s idols. It is a wonderful feeling to grow up with long-time friends.
After dinner, we had drinks at Changi City Point.
Towards the end of our meeting, I surprised her with a slice of thousand leaves cake from coffee bean. From my heart, I was elated to see her hearty smile when the cake appeared.
“A simple celebration, a heart to heart talk; wishing my long time friend great happiness and joy that never ends.”
In the evening of Mother’s Day, I was in the shower pampering myself with scrubs and hair mask. Then suddenly Leia came into bathroom asking me to hurry.
I told her I am not done yet. By the third time, Leia whispered softly: “Mummy… Papa has a gift for you. Can you faster come out?”
Sure, I got out of bathroom dressed in pj and Leia ran into the bedroom excitedly.
She went “Here !This is from papa and me”
Wooo.. his 1st time teaming up with Leia to surprise me. Bret told me my shower time is the perfect opportunity to get Leia to write message with him.
And Leia drew something else for me.
A bunny with lollipop and flowers!
Thank you Mr & Miss Khoo 🙂
We have yet to celebrate Mother’s Day with my mother-in-law. Her restuarant is always busy on special occassions hence we usually schedule earlier or later. Whenever we experienced conflicts in handling matters, we always try to compromise and give in to each other because we are family.
I am grateful to have her as my mother-in-law and I always remember her hardship and abundance of love in raising my husband.
Celebrated the special day with my parents at Todai, Marina Bay Sands Shoppes. They love seafood and its Alaska, King and Red Crab season.
My mum was overjoyed to see her little darling Leia.
From It was Mom,
“Every heartbeat begins with a mom who willingly accepted the divine role. They’s got job, sticky sleepless and soul stretching career. From 9 months, 90 months, 90 years, she tells us right from wrong, left from right, baking soda to baking powder. She slept little and worried much. She laughed, lathered, rinsed and repeated and repeated. Who taught us to love God, to love others and to love ourselves. Who prayed with us, who prayed for us and who read to us and taught us what the words mean. It was mom.”
Love my mother and even though she nags, I am still proud of my mother and I thank God for making her my mom.
This year Mother’s Day celebration at school, mummies were invited to a Zumba dance session.
After the session, the little ones came out from class and surprised mummies with a stalk of carnation, gifts and warm hug saying “Happy Mother’s Day”
Very thoughtful idea from Mindchamps at Tampines Point.
Next we went into the classroom and the children began to sing for their mothers.
Next, the kids began to queue up and personalised a yogurt dessert with the help of the lovely teachers asking, “Leia, what flavour does mummy like? Which topping for your mummy?”
Back in the class, we had yogurt and snacks.
Next was Arts and Crafts session for mummy and children.
Leia and I had fun with the craft.
Thankful for the sweet moment in school and appreciate the school’s effort for another memorable mother’s day celebration with Leia.

While waiting for my girls to arrive at bugis, I decided to lunch at itacho.
Told B “I am not a Japanese Food Lover, I just love Matsu Set!”
Sitting at the counter of itacho for solo lunch is something to enjoy.
