December is a busy month for gatherings at home. Sunday afternoon, we have my secondary school volleyball mates over to celebrate the festive.
“Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget.”
Today is also Dong Zhi Festival which refers to the arrival of winter. I decided to make Glutinous Ball Soup for my girls to celebrate the many years of Togetherness and Closeness. We will never forget all the hardship and victorious moment during volleyball and school days.
Source from Wikipedia:
“Traditionally, the Dongzhi Festival is also a time for the family to get together. One activity that occurs during these get togethers (especially in the southern parts of China and in Chinese communities overseas) is the making and eating of tangyuan (湯圓) or balls of glutinuous rice, which symbolize reunion. Tangyuan are made of glutinuous rice flour and sometimes brightly coloured. Each family member receives at least one large tangyuan in addition to several small ones.”
We got our bubbly Huiting to wear a xmas hat and pose with the soup.
Another shot with Huiting. Both of us miss those days where we used to hang out in my car and chat till dawn with some cans of beers. The thing about us, we often bring laughter to the team with our eccentric conversation and ideas.
Special thanks to my dearest hubby for being an awesome host too. Throughout the day, he was smiley and helping out in anything he could to make our guests comfortable. There were few times we were wondering “where is Bretson?” and then we found him in the kitchen.
The sweetest hubby was washing the dishes and utensils as I indulged in my catching up times with the loveliest team mates.
To Hubby: Muack a Million times 🙂
Everyone was glad to make it to this gathering. We had much laughter as we joked and reminisced our school days together. Already booked the next gathering for coming Chinese New Year. I wanna have steamboat with lots of goodies for my dear friends.
And I love them more than they can ever imagined.
