Tiong Bahru Bakery & Shevon

Last Thursday, I met B and Shevon at Raffles City. Got Shevon to choose her early xmas gift from me and she chose Dora Mega Blocks and Macaroon Tower. After shopping, B introduced Tiong Bahru Bakery to me.

While the two of us have some delicate buns and pastries, Shevon explored her new toy. Look at the excitement all over the little girl’s face! She’s looking more and more like her mummy.

When east meets west.. To me, it was like Hamburger with Sandwich Recipes yet called Buns. (Picture below from Deenise Glitz)

I ordered the Cereal Ham Bun. The bun is appetizing and filling.

Ideal place for coffee with friends or work.

Around 5pm, we picked up Leia from school. Our evening was spent at my place and the two girls had some girly time in the playroom.

One of the interesting moment, Pretend-Play at “Hair Salon”. The girls did painting at the living room too.

Moved on to balcony the four of us were enjoying the romantic night pool view when suddenly, Shevon surprised all of us by hugging Leia lovingly. A spectacular moment that warmed our hearts.

In the mood for Bags…

Before I even shop for christmas gifts, I have rewarded myself with new dresses and bags. Last week, I bought 3 work pieces from GG5. And today while waiting for hubby, I shopped at Wheelock and spent close to 1k within 2 hours.

It was in my agenda to get a document bag from Hiroshima. In need of a leather bag to contain heavy duty stuffs but I didn’t expect myself to get 2 bags from the store…Yes, I have a satchel on the way however, its gonna take weeks to arrive my place…

Then, I picked up some casual dresses and cardigans at Factorie. Prices and style were similar to Cotton on. For work, I found some pieces that were so “me” at Headline Seoul.

Agnes called me and I told her about my 2hrs splurge, her reply was “Hey, you should buy a Chanel Bag!”

Back at home, Bret looked uninterested when I showed him my new bags. He asked the question for the nth time, “Shall we go Chanel Boutique this weekend for your Christmas present?” As usual, I paused and switched the topic. Actually, I don’t need a Chanel to make me happy. Nevertheless, I truly appreciate his thought… lets see if I can find a Chanel Bag that makes me want to have it.

Shopping brings mixed feelings.

Oxblood Satchel

Last month, I was drawn to Huimin’s bag when she first arrived at our dinner. The minute I saw her bag, I immediately asked her where she got it. Her answer, “Cambridge Satchel“. Went to their website and found myself hooked to the varieties..every satchels look so attractive to me. Honestly, its not my usual style but I just have to have it.

After a month of consideration, I finally made my first online purchase for Oxblood Classic with Gold Embossing of my initials. I have received a confirmation email that the company is working on a handmade satchel for my purchase and will be ready within 14 days.

From Wikipedia

“The Cambridge Satchel Company is a British company that produces satchels and other leather goods.

The company was founded in 2008, in Cambridge, England, by Julie Deane and her mother Freda Thomas as a way to pay private school fees for Deane’s children. Her colourful handmade leather satchels are all based on an original Oxford and Cambridge satchel design and aimed at school children, but met unexpectedly high demand as a fashion accessory, and became, according to The Guardian, “a cult among twenty-something fashion bloggers“.[1]

Following coverage by international fashion magazines and a collaboration with the fashion brand Comme des Garçons, production of the satchels increased from three homemade items a week to 1,500 in 2011, and turnover increased from 15,000 to an estimated 8 million in 2011.[1]

The company ultimately started their own Cambridge Satchel factory near Leicester.[2]

Can’t wait to receive this british beauty in real!

Getting Cozy

With the ability to converse, every moment with leia is like a gift as she surprises us with contents we never expect.

On the way to downtown east today, we passed by a stretch of terrace houses and suddenly Leia said “wow, this house is beautiful … hmmm”

Certainly not her best shot but our recent picture together.

This weekend we spent quality time doing housework and baking together. Leia helped me to fold all her dad’s clothings and put away her own clothes into the wardrobe. I always thank my little helper for helping me out with housework.
The whole afternoon was all about baking. I did Lemon tart. If only I had the loose-bottom pie mould… Using my newly purchased Food Processor, I prepared the pastry dough without much fuss. Leia enjoyed watching the entire process and helped me to squeeze the lemon juice, break the eggs as well as played some dough.

When it was time to put the pastries including Leia’s work into the oven, she clapped her hands and said “Mummy, I am so happy with you! I LOVE YOU!” And I love her more than she can ever imagine. As the oven baked, I read books to my girl who insisted sitting on my lap.

When it was time for me to wash the dishes, she sat on the floor with her book, pinnochio. Leia was doing story telling based on the pictures.

As she grows, there are more cozy moments for us.

Trying on Heels

Mindchamps at Tampines Point have been preparing the children for year-end concert. Leia is required to wear make-up for her concert rehearsal on 25th Nov. I have gotten her the Pigeon Brand Face Powder however, I need to shop for a pair of black shoes.

So we brought her to Kiddy Palace where there’s lots of shoes for her to try on. My mum was being adventurous and got Leia to try on heels specially designed for toddlers.

No no.. I didn’t get any heels. When I looked at the way she walked, I wondered why would there be heels for her age. Very hazardous and looked uncomfortable to me. So..how did I get comfortable in heels… in fact, I prefer heels to flats.

As for Leia, there were many times I caught her trying my heels and I had to shout at the top of my voice “Leia! No!” All those shouting and screams never fail to make me feel I have entered the “auntie stage” regardless of how.. I dress up myself.

Called it karma or nature..How many of us actually slipped our little foot into mummy’s heels when we were kids? Hands up for me and probably you too.

Leia at Pineapple House

On Monday, I was not working so I decided to bring Leia and my parents to Changi Airport for lunch.

At 店小二 , I ordered the executive lunch set which includes shark’s fin, cod fish, scallops vegetable, their signature duck and hashima dessert.

Next, we proceed to the Santa house for some picture taking.

When I whatsapp Bret the pictures, he was shocked to know changi airport has such christmas decor.

Fireplace witb teddy.

At the Pineapple house, here’s Leia sitting on Spongebob’s bed.

At 1pm, there was special “show” bubble time. My girl was standing in front of the entrance and amazed by the bubbles!

Show times: 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, 8pm and 9pm (daily)

Click here for more events at Changi Airport Terminal 3, Departure Immigration.

Next will be meeting Mariposa, the Fairy Princess.

Golden Couple 36th Wedding Anniversary

Bret is greatly impressed by my mum’s relatives for many reasons. Mainly, the contagious joy of having a big family so strong and happy — by the way everyone interacts with each other, how we treat each other, what we do as a family and as individuals to support each other.

Uncle Riki, the eldest brother of my mum makes an inpsirational role model for brother, father, grandfather and definitely, husband.

Last year, he invited us to his wedding anniversary at pan pacific hotel. His speech on stage was moving and meangingful. My eyes were welled up with tears as he shared about his life journey and love story with Aunt Jenni. This year, celebration was held at Spring Court. Look at how the golden couple glow with love and happiness.

Dear Uncle Riki and Aunt Jenni,

Wedding Anniversary  is a very special moment in life. I am glad my family and I were able to be a part of this celebration to express our heartfelt joy to both of you.

Niece Serena and Family

Then, there was the unforgetable chinese delicacy… Roasted Pig! The crispy skin issoooo shiok… and precious.

All the dishes were great and family bonding made more fun with karoke in the private function room. Everyone likes to see the brothers in action.

My dear hubby Bret sang a song or two … I was suprised to see that he was not shy at all. Mr Black-Face  is very comfortable with my mum’s relatives because love is the remedy to a cold-heart. Leia on the otherhand, was laughing and playing non-stop with the girls. She was happily posing for pictures at the dinner too. Both my husband and daughter love Yong Family Gathering.

Look forward to see them soon again!
