2013: Easter Day Part II

In the morning of Easter Day, I showed Leia youtube videos of Easter Egg Colouring. And when the cooled hard-boiled eggs were laid nicely in front of her, I saw cute expressions on her face.

She wore this look like, “What am I supposed to do with these eggs?” She tried to crack the egg by knocking on the table and I stopped her. She teased me a few times by saying, “Stop!” Eggs and Toddler.. Then I proceed to add the Food Dye into the water (with 1 tsp of white vinegar). Got her to stir the water and ops.. ! Spilled ..which was expected. The stand-by cloths came in handy.

Finally, the eggs are ready for color dip!

Coloring of eggs… my first time too!

In the very next minute, my curious toddler scooped up the egg to check on the progress.

So…I had to distract her with spare hard-boiled egg for her. Carefully, she cracked the egg shell by knocking on the table and her little fingers peeled off the shell of the egg.

By then, the egg in the strawberry food dye looked ready. But.. the other egg in Yellow Food Dye..no.. and its because I bought banana essence. Ops.

Our First Easter Egg in Pink…I read that rubbing vegetable oil will give the egg a glossy shine. Didn’t do that though.

Leia went on to do the next batch of Easter Pink Eggs!

Snack time…

“Happy Easter, share this time to reflect on life, love, family and all of your blessings.”

2013: Easter Day Part I

Since the day I started reading to Leia, I would borrow library books associated to the special occassion for the month. Easter Day is a significant day to Catholics and Christians and on this day, christian and non-christians celebrate Easter with egg hunting and coloring hard-boiled egg.

Last year, we did crayon colouring of Easter Pictures because Leia was not ready for instructions and dyes. This year, I read her a book on Easter Egg hunters.

She was looking for the easter eggs and that inspired her to be an Easter Egg Hunter.

So, I started our very First Easter Egg Hunt at home. It was a simple affair. I prepared an empty green bucket(instead of basket) and hid the plastic eggs around her newly-bought Mother Garden Kitchen… Can you see them?

Within a minute, Leia found most of the eggs. Look at my little Easter Egg Hunter and her bucket.

We did few rounds of hide-and-search as well as switch of roles. Maybe next year, she will hide the eggs better 🙂

Next up… Leia had her first experience with colouring hard-boiled eggs.

Morning at Vivo City

These days, getting Leia to take her afternoon nap at home is quite a challenge. But, it is always easier when we take her out. Over the weekend, the homely father suggested bringing our girl out for lunch. I suggested Vivo City, a kid-friendly environment as well as the largest retail and lifetsyle desination in Singapore.

Looking at the time 11am..Food Republic was good for lunch. By the way, do you the food court chain is run by Breadtalk Group based in Singapore?

Leia’s eyes were busy with the early-twentieth century memorabilia such as a Chinese sedan chair and hawker pushcarts.

Bret is a dim sum lover. Siew Mai, Ha Kau … standard order. Leia prefers Siew Mai(pork) and she asked to use chopsticks.

Maybe it was her early exposure to fine motor skills at Happy Train… no one taught Leia how to use the chopsticks but she did it.

After lunch, we took her to the outdoor playground at level 2. Her eyes beaming with joy!

Bret was the cautious dad following his precious little girl around…and Slide – her favourite!

Then… blue tunnels fascinated Leia. She went in and out few times like 3 laps. Deep inside, I was thinking she’s gonna take a long nap after vivo.

It was Leia’s naptime but she was looking as energetic still.  I decided to visit Toy R US. She loves cars and went for the Red Mini Cooper.

Got her to try the convertible … its bigger and price tag was… $899.

She tried different “Cars” and I was busy with my camera.

Before we left, Sylvannia Squrriel was spotted. Leia waved gently calling out “Hello…”

A picture together with the friendly lovable squrriel.

Pet Safari ! Leia met the furry animals … dogs, hamsters and guinea pigs.

All in all, we enjoyed another impromptu morning day out.

“Treasure what you have today, for yesterday is past. Appreciate the love of family and friends, for the time they are here.”

Moon Dough Grocery Store

Play-doh was my time and today as parent, I got to know Moon Dough – The Magical Moulding Dough. And why play dough? She made a request and so… I gave in …happily ! Took me a while to decide though.. her toys are cluttering my mum’s place. Still, my parents and I always have reasons to bring something home for the 29 months-old. Put us in a retail environment, we find ourselves drawn to Leia’s favourites.

The little girl wasn’t as pleased when she realised all her “toys’ were packed in plastic packages.

We have a Moulding Cash Register to create 6 unique coins, 3D groceries moulds and grocery basket and 3 color dough.

Our desire to get hands-on with her new toy was intense. And the moment we held the dough in our hand, our senses were intrigued like Magic! The first response was, “wow..” Felt and smelled nothing like the conventional play dough. The weight is so light like styrofoam and texture was incredibly smooth. Doesn’t stick as much.

Looking at the pictures from the box, I asked Leia to wait as I demostrated the moulding process. It was straightforward and fun for us. However, Leia wasn’t used to winding anti-clockwise direction. But she did get it in the end 🙂

The experience was great. Managed to catch her smile when she looked at me!

Planned to get Moon Dough Magic Zoo.

Another Angel in my life

Huiting, my volleyball mate in secondary school, is as dear to me as ever. We do not contact each other always but the moment we are together alone… I feel touched to know our friendship stays as strong as ever.

Our meeting venue was Seoul Garden and I wanted to hang out with her till dawn like we used to. Times changed, whenever I’m not home Leia misses me… but I will try to meet up with Huiting as often and I have booked her for birthday in May.

Something about us, we share the same birthday as her mother. And everytime she text me birthday greeting, I will not forget to wish her mum happy birthday too. Huiting has a wonderful personality.. the thing about H..s

Truly thankful for having her as a good friend of mine.
