Saturday evening, I stunned Bret by telling him I want to make Fried Carrot Cake for dinner. Being anti-hassle, he discouraged me. But he had no idea how prepared I was. It was in my plan to cook the local delight at home.
Home-Cooked White Fried Carrot Cake for Leia.
Curious Bret joined me in the kitchen. Cooking is one of my favourite activities with him. We would try out recipes and challenge each other. Honey moon moment can easily be rekindled in the kitchen 🙂
This time, he whipped up a sweeter version of Black Fried Carrot Cake compared to mine. According to my mum, mine was just nice. But I prefer Bret’s…tastier. Even though it is our first time making Fried Carrot Cake, I have to admit he has natural flair in culinary. Well, renowed chefs are usually males.
- Ready Made Rice Cake with Carrot (I bought from Yes Supermarket)
- Preserved Raddish / “chai po”
- Spring Onion
- Minced Garlic
- Sweet Dark Soy Sauce
- Fish Sauce
Steps are really simple:
- Place a non-stick frying pan over high heat and add in about 2 tbsp of oil
- Add in minced garlic and chai po and fry till fragrant, followed by rice cakes.
- Fry rice cakes till it is slightly brown/crispy
- Add fish sauce and spring onion into egg mixture
- Stir-fry the rice cakes with egg mixture
- Garnish with spring onion and serve
- The black version is done exactly the same way, with the addition of sweet dark soy sauce at the end
Saturday morning, Leia asked to have banana. She was elated to doing some cutting.
Leia loves preparing her own meal. The satisfaction was easily seen on her face and its a contagious feeling 🙂
My little girl is very familiar with youtube app. From time to time, she finds interesting clips. Yesterday, I was drawn to this particular love story… that moved me to tears.
Reminded me of my long journey with Bret. From students to … parents of Leia and I blog because it’s my “adventure album” to reminisce the memories of our
my life story.
Carbonara with friends is common for me and Friday was the first time I had with Leia.
Bret suggested Hans and I was onz. Leia was hungry and that helped her to focus on eating 🙂
My addidas gear. Long time no see… it was covered with dust and I had to use wet tissue to clean them. Eewww…
Despite an empty stomach, B was all ready for gym. In her work wear, she carried her bags of necessities for work out. However the gym was occupied with males and our hearts directed us to the outdoor area where there are exercise equipment. Turned out, our decision was right! Nice cooling weather as we used the equipment targeting our bottom. Best of all, we could chat at the same time.
About an hour later, we went for steam bath.
Benefits of Steam Bath:
- Water Loss – Losing enough water through pores of body will cause loss of few pounds
- Increased Heart Rate – Temporarily increase your heart rate, which also increases blood flow and circulation
- Muscle Relaxation – The warmth of the steam room following a good workout can ease the pain of muscle fatigue and help you relax.

20 minutes later, done.
Without make up and glowy.
Before we were announced Husband and Wife, Bret made effort to shop for gifts on special occasions or overseas trips. From what I know, he will never step foot into the malls unless there’s a shopping purpose. And now that I’m Mrs Khoo, he insists I tell him what I like on special occasions.
Although Bret is not a material person, he believes in buying quality stuffs and … he’s been telling me I need a new bag or watch. Well, I am not really a shoppaholic especially with a kid now.. I only buy bag once or twice a year now.
S thinking about bags & mumbled to herself: “Hmm…I need a Chanel.”
B overheard and said: “I’ll get you a Chanel bag for next birthday!”
S shocked and replied: “Nah… I’ll reward myself :)”
Indeed! I will fulfill this wish of mine …using my own pay cheque. Not looking at the 2.55 but.. something else…
Bret rewarded himself with a Tag Heuer in his first job and I shall reward myself with Chanel this year.
Tuesday evening, I had an impromptu meet up with Caiyan and Beelian. The venue was usual place – vbff’s void deck. And…we went prepared with our own drinks 🙂
B: Coke from Mcdonalds
C: Mineral water from Office
S: Lychee Taiwan Beer from Home
It was three jolly hours with lots of laughter. Each of us eagerly reported our recent life stories with animated expressions and gestures. A topic that touched my heart, Faith.
As mentioned to my ladies, I feel Caiyan is special. She has this unique aura which I couldn’t quite describe until I found the word, “Blessed”. Yes, she is evidently loved by God and I like the way vbff shares about Christianity. Once, I was in a pit hole where I needed miracle and she taught me how to pray. Next day, I received blessing from God. Since then, I developed faith.
“Prayer is Powerful. But remember that God works in his timing, not yours. Have Patience.”
Thank God for everything and everyone in my life.
